[Radical nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy].
Aktuelle Urologie, 2021Renal cell carcinoma is the 2nd most frequent urological malignancy in women and the third most frequent in men, with an age peak in the seventh decade of life. If detected early in a local non-metastatic stage, options for complete recovery are excellent.

Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy
Journal of Endourology, 2000Although open nephrectomy is the standard of care for localized renal-cell carcinoma, the significant postoperative pain and lengthy convalescence have encouraged the use of laparoscopy, which can yield similar 2- to 5-year survival rates. Either a transperitoneal or a retroperitoneal approach may be used, and sometimes, they are combined.

Pararectus Retroperitoneal Radical Nephrectomy
Journal of Urology, 1991We describe a new pararectus retroperitoneal approach to the kidney, which allows easy identification and occlusion of the renal vessels before mobilization of the kidney. This approach potentially reduces morbidity, hospital stay and cost. The technique has been used in 4 cases of radical nephrectomy for tumor and in 1 for pyonephrosis.

Hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy: comparison to open radical nephrectomy
Urology, 2001Hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery is easier to learn than standard laparoscopy and simplifies intact specimen removal. We present our experience performing hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (HALRN) and compare it with contemporary open radical nephrectomy performed at our institution. We performed 18 HALRNs for renal tumors ranging in size

Hand Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy: Comparison With Open Radical Nephrectomy
Journal of Urology, 2003We compared the results of hand assisted laparoscopic and conventional open radical nephrectomy.Clinical data on 54 hand assisted and 50 open radical nephrectomies performed at our hospital from September 1999 to October 2002 were reviewed.Mean operative time in the laparoscopic and open groups was similar (194.9 and 180.7 minutes, respectively, p = 0 ...

Hand-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy: Comparison with Transabdominal Radical Nephrectomy
The American Surgeon, 2002The purpose of this study was to investigate whether hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (HALN) has benefits over the traditional transabdominal radical nephrectomy. More specifically we focused on the use of the hand-assisted technique as a definitive oncologic procedure for renal cancers.

Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy: The Nagoya Experience
Journal of Urology, 1997We evaluated the efficacy of laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for removing kidneys with small volume renal cell carcinoma.25 patients (19 men and 6 women, mean age 59) who had a kidney with small volume renal cell carcinoma (diameter less than 5 cm.), underwent laparoscopic radical nephrectomy.

To compare the outcomes of hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (HALRN) with those of open radical nephrectomy (ORN) for renal-cell carcinoma (RCC).A total of 130 patients with stage T(1) or T(2) RCC with a maximum diameter < 10 cm underwent radical nephrectomy by HALRN (n = 63) or ORN (n = 67).

Hand-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy
Journal of Endourology, 2011Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is the standard of care for the management of most renal cancers. The hand-assisted approach has bridged the gap between open nephrectomy and a pure laparoscopic approach. Hand-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy allows tactile feedback, thus shortening the learning curve for some surgeons and allowing more experienced ...

Abstract In 1948 there were almost simultaneous case reports of large renal cell carcinomas (RCC) being removed through a thoraco- abdominal approach. Robson (1963) published a paper describing the procedure of radical nephrectomy (RN) for renal tumours.
