Building an inclusive botany: The “radicle” dream

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, 2023
Societal Impact StatementIt is important to recognize how our current understanding of plants has been shaped by diverse cultural contexts, as this underscores the importance of valuing and incorporating contributions from all knowledge systems in scientific pursuits. This approach emphasizes the ongoing bias, including within scientific practices, and

Low temperature stimulates spatial molecular reprogramming of the Arabidopsis seed germination programme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The timing of the germination of seeds is highly responsive to inputs from the environment. Temperature plays a key role in the control of germination, with low temperatures acting to stimulate this developmental transition in many species.

Cell-Free Supernatant Obtained From a Salt Tolerant Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Strain Enhances Germination and Radicle Length Under NaCl Stressed and Optimal Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2022
Seed germination and early plant growth are key stages in plant development that are, susceptible to salinity stress. Plant growth promoting microorganisms (PGPMs) produce substances, in their growth media, that could enhance plant growth under more ...

Effect of biological pre-treatment of seed on germination and growth indices and pigments of flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) under salinity stress [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و فناوری بذر ایران, 2021
To study the effect of biological treatment on germination and growth indices and pigments of flaxseed under salinity stress, a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design was conducted in three replications at the faculty of agriculture of ...

The role of the cell cycle machinery in resumption of postembryonic development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Cell cycle activity is required for plant growth and development, but its involvement in the early events that initiate seedling development remains to be clarified. We performed experiments aimed at understanding when cell cycle progression is activated

Arabidopsis Embryogenesis: Radicle development(s) [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 1995
Genetic and anatomical analyses of the developing Arabidopsis embryogenic root reveal that stereotypic patterns of cell division are not required for pattern formation.

Mechanism of endocarp-imposed constraints of germination of Lannea microcarpa seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Lannea microcarpa, a multipurpose tree species from the dry African savanna, sheds seeds that often display inhibition of germination. The underlying mechanism was investigated using seeds processed from fully matured fruits collected from natural stands

Variety Affects Radicle Emergence Test Results in Wheat

open access: yesSeed Science and Technology, 2023
Thirty seed lots from four spring wheat varieties produced in Finland in 2019 were RE-tested according to ISTA rules, counting the number of seeds with a 2 mm-long radicle after 48 hours in a germination test at 15°C in darkness. There were significant differences among the varieties in RE counts (p < 0.001).

Effects of cadmium, copper, and zinc on germination and post-germination growth of chia seeds [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
In recent years, concerns regarding environmental pollution and its impact on agricultural production have intensified due to the ongoing dispersal of heavy metals. This study investigated the ecotoxicological effects of three heavy metals (cadmium (Cd),

Effects end of seasonal drought stress on germination parameters and seedling heterotrophic growth of wheat cultivars [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و فناوری بذر ایران, 2020
In order to investigate the effect of drought stress on germination parameters and heterotrophic growth of different wheat cultivars, a factorial experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with 6 replications in a research greenhouse of
