An experiment was made to standardize the radicle emergence test to predict the field emergence performance in ten different seed lots [L1 to L4: high vigour lots (> 90 % germination), L5 to L7: medium vigour lots (80-90 % germination) and L8 to L10 ...

Spraying Metarhizium brunneum on tomato plants controls heterogeneous and upcoming Phthorimaea absoluta populations by infecting larvae within mines and priming plant induced systemic defences. Abstract BACKGROUND The endophytic entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium brunneum Petch EAMa 01/58‐Su shows strong potential for managing Phthorimaea absoluta, a ...

Genotype‐by‐environment interaction shaped soybean seed stability under contrasting insecticide regimes. Seed longevity emerged as a stable, management‐relevant trait under pest pressure. High‐pressure, no‐insecticide conditions improved discrimination of tolerant genotypes for integrated pest management deployment.

Effect of Magnetic Fields on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Sesame (Sesamum indicum)
Priming of seeds by magnetic fields (magneto priming) is proposed as an ecological, useful and low-priced method for improvement of seed germination and plant emergence.

Early carbon mobilization and radicle protrusion in maize germination [PDF]
Considerable amounts of information is available on the complex carbohydrates that are mobilized and utilized by the seed to support early seedling development. These events occur after radicle has protruded from the seed. However, scarce information is available on the role of the endogenous soluble carbohydrates from the embryo in the first hours of ...

Essential oils from orange and citronella showed dose‐dependent inhibition of weed germination and early growth, highlighting their potential as bioherbicides and sustainable tools for integrated weed management. Abstract BACKGROUND Increasing selection of herbicide‐resistant weed biotypes has intensified the search for alternatives to the intensive ...

Vitamin B6 is a critical molecule for plant metabolism and development. Rsr4‐1, a loss‐of‐function mutant in a vitamin B6 biosynthesis gene, has a distinct short root phenotype. Here we describe five novel suppressor mutants with an rsr4‐1 background that have normalized root growth and distinct phenotypic and molecular characteristics, representing a ...
