Symptomatic residual radicular cysts
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 1988The clinical, radiological and histological characteristics of 31 symptomatic residual radicular cysts are compared and contrasted with 39 asymptomatic residual cysts. Differences in size and site incidence are demonstrated along with an inversely proportional relationship between radiographic cortication and degree of acute inflammation in the cyst ...

Dentigerous cyst or Radicular cyst?
Universal Research Journal of Dentistry, 2015Radicular cysts arising from deciduous teeth are remarkably rare. This article presents a case report of radicular cyst associated with an endodontically treated deciduous second molar. Clinical and radiographic features were consistent with the dentigerous cyst. The cystic lesion was surgically enucleated under local anesthesia.

Ciliated epithelium–lined radicular cysts
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2002This report describes 3 cases of ciliated epithelium-lined radicular cysts among 256 apical periodontitis lesions and also illustrates the occurrence of an Actinomyces-infected periapical cyst.Serial and step serial sections of 256 plastic-embedded root apices with attached apical periodontitis lesions that were prepared for a previous investigation ...

Nonsurgical resolution of radicular cysts
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1972Abstract This study, based upon the histologic examination of 969 radicular cysts, suggests that the vast majority of radicular cysts undergo resolution following conservative endodontic therapy. The mechanism involved in this resolution may be the dissolution of epithelial lining due to the inflammatory exudate.

Aim As CD57 antigen is an important modulator of the immune system, the purpose of the present study was to compare the expression of this antigen on radicular cysts (RC) with hyperplastic or atrophic epithelium.Methodology Twenty cases of RC were retrieved and classified as atrophic or hyperplastic. A biotin‐streptavidin amplified system was used for

Age changes in residual radicular cysts
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 1986Histological and radiographic study of 33 uninfected residual radicular cysts has shown that there is a slow increase in mineralised deposits within the cyst lumen with time. This becomes prominent histochemically in those cysts more than 8 years old and radiographically 6 years later.

The existence of a true residual radicular cyst has been called into question. When observed, it probably represents, with rare exceptions, a resolving radicular cyst--a "work in progress".
