The Development of Spinal Pain Beliefs: Patient Journey Mapping From Onset of Symptoms to MRI: A Qualitative Interview Study

open access: yesMusculoskeletal Care, Volume 24, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Beliefs about pain influence not only how individuals experience spinal pain but also their management behaviours. Health professionals are considered to play a central role in shaping these beliefs, yet little is known about how they evolve over time and which factors contribute to their development.

Minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion: Primary endpoint results from the prospective, multicenter STACI study

open access: yesPM&R, Volume 18, Issue 9, Page 986-996, September 2026.
Abstract Background Chronic sacroiliac joint (SIJ) pain is highly debilitating. Minimally invasive SIJ fusion has become a commonly performed surgical treatment for SIJ pain, with level I evidence showing clinically significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life and a low adverse event rate.

Nerve Injury Following Birth, the Role of Epidural Analgesia—A Protocol for a Scoping Review

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 8, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Epidural analgesia is widely used during labor, and postpartum nerve injury is an uncommon but clinically relevant outcome. Neurological symptoms after childbirth may be related to obstetric or anesthetic factors. Studies vary considerably in how postpartum nerve injury is identified, defined, assessed, and followed, limiting ...

Chitinases in Tear Fluid of Patients With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study investigated chitinase expression in ALS across tear fluid (TF), CSF, and serum. CHI3L1 was elevated in TF, consistent with changes in CSF, but not serum. Furthermore, combining TF chitinases with serum NfL improved diagnostic discrimination.

The Erasmus—Polyneuropathy Symptom Score for the Screening of Chronic Axonal Polyneuropathy: A Validation Study

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 31, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Chronic axonal polyneuropathy is a common disorder that often remains undiagnosed. Early detection may enhance treatment of underlying risk factors and prevent long‐term complications. The Erasmus‐Polyneuropathy symptom score (E‐PSS) is a simple and rapid screening tool, consisting of six questions (score ranges 0–14). This

Neuropathy in Val122Ile Hereditary Transthyretin (ATTR) Amyloidosis: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 31, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The Val122Ile ATTR Amyloidosis has traditionally been linked to cardiac manifestations. Recent studies suggest that neuropathy may be relevant. In this study, we characterized its peripheral nerve manifestations in depth. Methods This was a national, multicenter, observational, retrospective study.

Postoperative Curvature Loss in Three‐Level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion With Zero‐Profile Device

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 9, Page 1819-1827, September 2026.
This study focused on postoperative curvature loss (PCL) for three‐level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with Zero‐Profile device. Lower preoperative curvature and preoperative T1 slope were predictive factors of PCL. Postoperative change of TPE distance and T1 slope were risk factors. PCL may impair patients' quality of life.
