Impact des aménagements sur la migration anadrome du saumon atlantique (Salmo salar L.) sur le gave de Pau (France)

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 1999
Le suivi par radiotélémétrie de la migration anadrome de 114 saumons atlantiques sur le Gave de Pau, réalisé de 1995 à 1997, a permis d'étudier l'impact de 31 des 37 obstacles érigés sur l'axe de migration.

Habitat use and movements of Glossophaga soricina and Lonchophylla dekeyseri (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in a Neotropical savannah

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2014
The greatest current threat to terrestrial fauna is continuous and severe landscape modification that destroys and degrades animal habitats. This rapid and severe modification has threatened species, local biological communities, and the ecological ...

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Radio-telemetry observations of the first 650 km of the migration of Bar-tailed Godwits Limosa lapponica from the Wadden Sea to the Russian Arctic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In 1999 and 2000, 45 Bar-tailed Godwits Limosa lapponica were supplied with radio-transmitters during spring staging on the island Texel in the western Wadden Sea. With the use of Automatic Radio Tracking Stations (ARTS) on Texel and in south Sweden, and

Autonomous Spacecraft Navigation Based on Pulsar Timing Information

open access: yes, 2011
We discuss the possibility of an autonomous navigation system for spacecraft that is based on pulsar timing data. Pulsars are rapidly rotating neutron stars that are observable as variable celestial sources of electromagnetic radiation.

Habitat fragmentation and anthropogenic factors affect wildcat Felis silvestris silvestris occupancy and detectability on Mt Etna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Knowledge of patterns of occupancy is crucial for planning sound biological management and for identifying areas which require paramount conservation attention.

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Survival of translocated Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse: recognizing trends in post-release mortality to improve reintroductions

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology, 2022
Survival of translocated prairie-grouse (Tympanuchus spp.) is often low in the first few weeks or months following release into a novel environment. Understanding the processes and mechanisms that influence short-term, post-release survival, such as ...

Habitat use and movement patterns in the endangered ground beetle species, Carabus olympiae (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2008
One of the most compelling challenges for conservation biologists is the preservation of species with restricted ranges. Carabus olympiae Sella, 1855, a ground beetle species inhabiting two small areas in the western Italian Alps, is an example of a ...

Constraints on MOND theory from radio tracking data of the Cassini spacecraft

open access: yes, 2014
The MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) is an attempt to modify the gravitation theory to solve the Dark Matter problem. This phenomenology is very successful at the galactic level.
