Faint radio samples: the key to understanding radio galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
The large number of differences between high- and low-redshift radio galaxies have almost all been discovered by looking at the bright 3C sample of radio sources. This has the disadvantage that the strong correlation between radio luminosity and redshift within a single sample makes it impossible to be determine whether these differences are the result

The jet power, radio loudness and black hole mass in radio loud AGNs

open access: yes, 2005
The jet formation is thought to be closely connected with the mass of central supermassive black hole in Active Galactic Nuclei. The radio luminosity commonly used in investigating this issue is merely an indirect measure of the energy transported ...

Enhanced dose prediction for head and neck cancer artificial intelligence‐driven radiotherapy based on transfer learning with limited training data

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Training deep learning dose prediction models for the latest cutting‐edge radiotherapy techniques, such as AI‐based nodal radiotherapy (AINRT) and Daily Adaptive AI‐based nodal radiotherapy (DA‐AINRT), is challenging due to limited data.

Tuning with the listeners: portrait of citizens’ participation in the public opinion programmes Antena Aberta and Fórum TSF [PDF]

open access: yesEstudos em Comunicação, 2011
Several studies have been able to identify the constant lack of interest of the scientific community of communication towards the field of radio (Antón & Serrano, 2007; Balsebre, 1994).

Evaluation of daily residual pancreatic tumor motion for deep‐inspiration breath‐hold radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Breath‐hold techniques are widely used in radiation therapy to minimize respiratory‐induced tumor or organ‐at‐risk motion. However, residual motion persists, necessitating a reliable daily evaluation method. Methods At our institution, fiducial markers serve as surrogates for target localization in pancreatic cancer treatment.

The AGN component in deep radio fields: Results from the First Look Survey [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We are currently exploiting the deep radio/optical/IR information available for the extra-galactic component of the Spitzer First Look Survey (FLS) to investigate the physical properties of faint radio-selected AGNs, with the aim of studying the AGN component of sub-mJy radio fields.

Radio Properties of Low Redshift Broad Line Active Galactic Nuclei Including Extended Radio Sources

open access: yes, 2010
We present a study of the extended radio emission in a sample of 8434 low redshift (z < 0.35) broad line active galactic nuclei (AGN) from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS).

A giant radio halo in the low luminosity X-ray cluster Abell 523

open access: yes, 2011
Radio halos are extended and diffuse non-thermal radio sources present at the cluster center, not obviously associated with any individual galaxy. A strong correlation has been found between the cluster X-ray luminosity and the halo radio power.

Impact of enhanced leaf model on dose calculation accuracy in single‐isocenter multitarget stereotactic radiosurgery treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Single‐isocenter multitarget (SIMT) radiosurgery has become increasingly popular as advancement in planning and delivery systems have made this approach clinically viable. With targets varying in size and distance from isocenter, SIMT plans are highly complex with dynamic multileaf collimator (MLC) motion.
