Radio-loud and Radio-quiet Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 1999
We have generated a sample of 409 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) for which both the radio luminosity at 5 GHz and the line luminosity in [O III] j5007 have been measured.

Unified Schemes for Radio-Loud Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1995
88 pages, latex file, uses aaspp.sty macro (available via ftp from ftp://aas.org/pubs/aastex/). Accompanying 22 figures and 3 tables available at http://itovf2.roma2.infn.it/padovani/review.html. (Abstract is abridged.) The only change is that the revised version indicates this paper is an invited review for PASP, in press, September 1995 ...

Dual active galactic nuclei from rainbows to radio

2022
Simulations of galactic mergers predict that tidally-induced gas inflows can trigger synchronized accretion onto the supermassive black holes at the center of each galaxy. These should be observable as dual active galactic nuclei (dAGN) at kpc-scale separations. We test this prediction using a carefully selected sample of 35 radio galaxy pairs from the

Faint Radio Active Galactic Nuclei

Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2005
To separate the faint radio AGN population and a population of star-forming galaxies and then to determine the properties of each population it is necessary to couple deep radio and optical observations over a reasonably large area of sky. Here we present the preliminary results obtained cross-matching the photometric VIMOS survey (Visible MultiObject ...

The kinetic luminosity of radio jets in active galactic nuclei

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
Based on the Konigl's inhomogeneous jet model, we estimate the jet parameters, such as bulk Lorentz factor Γ, viewing angle θ and electron number density ne from radio VLBI and X‐ray data for a sample of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). The kinetic luminosity of jets is then calculated using the derived jet parameters.
