Determining Exciton Diffusion Length in Organic Semiconductors: Unifying Macro‐ and Microscopic Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Exciton diffusion length in organic semiconductor films is determined from encounter/annihilation rates. Non‐normalized exciton densities and proper intrinsic lifetime reference avoid over‐parametrization of the fits. Monte Carlo Simulation of individual molecule‐to‐molecule hops reproduce these results (②) when matching lattice constant and hoping ...

Transport Resistance Dominates the Fill Factor Losses in Record Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Organic photovoltaics are a promising solar cell technology, but even the record devices with 20% efficiency have significant fill factor losses due to low active layer conductivities. In this Perspective, the authors describe the origin of these losses, discuss experimental methods for their quantification, and explain how to minimize them to optimize

Hybrid Molecular Photoanodes for Water Oxidation Based on Electropolymerized Cu Macrocyclic Complexes on BiVO4‐WO3

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid photoanodes based on WO3/BiVO4 and Cu‐based molecular catalysts are developed for solar water oxidation. The molecular catalyst enables efficient hole transfer and passivates recombination centers, leading to enhanced photocurrent and long‐term stability.

Self‐Assembled Polypseudorotaxanes Crosslinked by Dynamic Disulfide Bonds as Modular Functionalization for Thiophilic Metal Nanoparticles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled thiol‐rich polypseudorotaxanes with high modularity were developed via a “one‐pot” preparation through the threading of thiolated α‐cyclodextrins on polymers and subsequent oxidation of thiols into disulfide bonds. This dynamic motif was used as a functionalization platform for thiophilic metal nanoparticles, either tethering them to a ...
