The Benefits and Harms of Transmitting Into Space

open access: yes, 2013
Deliberate and unintentional radio transmissions from Earth propagate into space. These transmissions could be detected by extraterrestrial watchers over interstellar distances.

High-Gain Design of a 6 × 26 Slotted Waveguide Array Antenna with a Grid Cavity for Ku-Band Wave-Monitoring RADAR Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science
This paper proposes a high-gain slotted waveguide array antenna design for Ku-band wave-monitoring radar systems. The antenna structure features a two-layer design that integrates the feeding and radiating sections.

A Simple Printed Cross-Dipole Antenna with Modified Feeding Structure and Dual-Layer Printed Reflector for Direction Finding Systems

open access: yesSensors, 2021
In this paper, a simple printed cross-dipole (PCD) antenna to achieve a right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) at the L/S-band for direction finding (DF) systems is presented.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Blocker-Tolerant Broadband CMOS Low-Noise Amplifier Employing N-Path Filter-Based Load

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study proposes a broadband complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) low-noise amplifier (LNA) with intrinsic band-selective out-of-band (OB) blocker rejection capabilities.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
