Radio Frequency Background

open access: yes, 2011
Design considerations for the traditional low frequency circuits and the RF circuits are quite different. In low frequency design, the maximum signal transfer occurs when the source presents low impedance while the load presents high impedance. A typical example is a buffer, where the input impedance is high and the output impedance is low.

Epidermal radio frequency electronics for wireless power transfer

open access: yesMicrosystems & Nanoengineering, 2016
Epidermal electronic systems feature physical properties that approximate those of the skin, to enable intimate, long-lived skin interfaces for physiological measurements, human–machine interfaces and other applications that cannot be addressed by ...

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Low-frequency View of GW170817/GRB 170817A with the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
The short gamma-ray burst (GRB) 170817A was the first GRB associated with a gravitational-wave event. Due to the exceptionally low luminosity of the prompt γ-ray and the afterglow emission, the origin of both radiation components is highly debated.

Temperature-Dependent Morphology Modulation of MoO2 from 1D Nanoribbons to 2D Nanoflakes for Enhanced Two-Dimensional Electrode Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials
The morphology modulation of target crystals is important for understanding their growth mechanisms and potential applications. Herein, we report a convenient method for modulating the morphology of MoO2 by controlling different growth temperatures. With

KCS1 and VIP1, the genes encoding yeast phosphoinositol pyrophosphate synthases, are required for Ca2+‐mediated response to dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Ca2+‐mediated response to DMSO was investigated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells expressing Ca2+‐dependent aequorin. Cell exposure to DMSO induced a cytosolic Ca2+ wave dependent on the integrity of the Cch1/Mid1 channel. Deletion of KCS1 or VIP1 genes encoding the phosphoinositol pyrophosphate (PP‐IP) synthases suppressed the DMSO‐induced Ca2 ...
