Simulative Investigation of the Radar Cross Section of Wind Turbines

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Wind-power generation is one of the fundamental sources of renewable energy. However, due to the increasing size of wind turbines, they cause unwanted interference with radar systems for civic protection, especially for on-shore locations.

Exploring Ambient Radio Frequency Emissions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Radio astronomy observatories, such as the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in Penticton, British Columbia, try to limit radio frequency interference to observe incredibly faint astronomical signals. These protective measures include placing observatories in geographically remote locations, the implementation of radio-frequency-interference ...

Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

Random Learning Leads to Faster Convergence in ‘Model‐Free’ ILC: With Application to MIMO Feedforward in Industrial Printing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
The cost as a function of the number of experiments for a non‐symmetric 21×21$$ 21\times 21 $$ system. Four approaches are shown: the proposed stochastic conjugate gradient ILC (SCGILC) method (), deterministic conjugate gradient ILC (), stochastic gradient descent ILC () and deterministic gradient descent ILC ().

The ATESP 5 GHz radio survey. III. 4.8, 8.6 and 19 GHz follow-up observations of radio galaxies

open access: yes, 2009
[Abridged] Physical and evolutionary properties of the sub-mJy radio population are not entirely known. The radio/optical analysis of the ATESP 5 GHz sample has revealed a significant class of compact flat/inverted radio-spectrum sources associated to ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.
