Radio frequency identification (RFID) in hospitality

Technovation, 2009
Abstract The number of radio frequency identification (RFID) applications in different industries increases continuously. Cumulative sales of RFID tags up to the beginning of 2006 reached 2.4 billion. In 2005 alone, 600 million tags were sold, which presents the trend in RFID allocation.

Wavelet Fingerprinting of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Tags

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012
Unintentional modulations of the electromagnetic signal of radio-frequency (RF) emitters are used to identify individual sources of signals as unique from emitters of the same type in a procedure known as RF fingerprinting. It allows for the identification and tracking of physical threats, prevention of unauthorized access, and detecting cloning of ...

Implementation and Usage of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

2007 40th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS'07), 2007
Whether to solve specific business problems or comply with trading partner mandates, many companies are now engaged in pilot projects using radio frequency identification (RFID). RFID dramatically increases the potential for organizations to collect data about any tagable entity, which has implications for supply chain logistics, customer relationship ...

Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) applications: A brief introduction

Advanced Engineering Informatics, 2007
This short paper introduces the key concepts behind RFID technology and presents a brief historical perspective. Examples of RFID applications are also given to highlight the developing popularity of the technology in many sectors. This paper will provide insights into the technology for the uninitiated reader without going into the technical and ...

Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)

2019
RFID technology has been widely adapted in industries for uses in logistical tracking, highway tolling, building access, and transportation ticketing. These applications have generally been limited to the original intended use of RFID, that is identification and a replacement for bar codes.

RFID: Radio Frequency Identification

2020
What does good old radio have to do with new smart technology that’s bringing retail up to speed? Well, radio waves perfectly come in handy in this industry with so-called radio frequency identification. With RFID, radio waves are used to collect data from small chips called tags.

In-hand radio frequency identification (RFID) for robotic manipulation

2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2013
We present a unique multi-antenna RFID reader (a sensor) embedded in a robot's manipulator that is designed to operate with ordinary UHF RFID tags in a short-range, near-field electromagnetic regime. Using specially designed near-field antennas enables our sensor to obtain spatial information from tags at ranges of less than 1 meter.
