Soft Ferroelectrics in One Dimension: Ferroelectric Columnar Liquid Crystals
Helical ferroelectric columnar liquid crystals (FCLCs) confine bistable axial polarization within individual columns. An electric field reversibly flips the macrodipole, enabling two nonvolatile states readable as “0” and “1.” This Cconcept highlights supramolecular locking and helical architectures that deliver genuine switching and long‐lived zero ...

Broadband phase switches for radio-frequency and microwave interferometry
Two wideband phase switches have been built for radio and microwave interferometry. In one, the directions of current flow in a balanced transmission line are reversed periodically. The line is coupled into the interferometer via broadband baluns.

Design and Verification of a Clock System for Orbital Radio Interferometry
Radio interferometry using multiple small satellites will enable measurements with high angular resolution for remote sensing and astronomy. The NASA sponsored Auroral Emissions Radio Explorer (AERO) and Vector Interferometry Space Technology using AERO (

Kalman filter for radio source power and direction of arrival estimation
Images are an important source of information for spacecraft navigation. Based on an image and a known attitude, triangulation techniques (intersection or resection) are often used for positioning and navigation.

Nonlinear Kalman filters for calibration in radio interferometry [PDF]
We present a new calibration scheme based on a non-linear version of Kalman filter that aims at estimating the physical terms appearing in the Radio Interferometry Measurement Equation (RIME). We enrich the filter's structure with a tunable data representation model, together with an augmented measurement model for regularization.
