Wiggles and Knots in Radio Jets
1983Dynamical effects in binary nuclei inside parent galactic cores, gravitational interactions with companion galaxies and Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities in the flow propagation have been proposed as mechanism responsible for the formation of the low amplitude morphologies, wiggles and knots, observed in radio jets.

Jets in extragalactic radio sources
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1979Particle acceleration in the extended parts of radio galaxies seems likely from a number of arguments. The radio jets which now seem commonly to connect the nucleus to the more extended structure of radio galaxies are a likely location for some of the necessary in situ acceleration.
