The Shape of Jupiter and Saturn Based on Atmospheric Dynamics, Radio Occultations and Gravity Measurements

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
The shape of the two gas giants, Jupiter and Saturn, is determined primarily by their rotation rate, and interior density distribution. It is also affected by their zonal winds, causing an anomaly of O(10 km) at low latitudes.

COSMIC‐2 Radio Occultation Constellation: First Results [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
Abstract Initial data from the Formosa Satellite‐7/Constellation Observing System for Meteorology Ionosphere and Climate (FORMOSAT‐7/COSMIC‐2, hereafter C2), a recently launched equatorial constellation of six satellites carrying advanced radio occultation receivers, exhibit high signal‐to‐noise ratio, precision, and accuracy, and the

Sensing the ionosphere with the Spire radio occultation constellation

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate, 2021
Radio occultation (RO) provides a cost-effective component of the overall sensor mix required to characterise the ionosphere over wide areas and in areas where it is not possible to deploy ground sensors. The paper describes the RO constellation that has

Optical and Radio Occultation Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 1971
The study of occultations of radio sources by the Moon has proved a powerful method of studying the structure of radio sources with a resolution limit, in some cases, as small as 0″.1 and at the same time of obtaining positions of the radio components with an accuracy of the order of 0″.1 to 1″.
