Upgradable radio-over-fiber transport system

Optical Engineering, 2017
An upgradable radio-over-fiber (RoF) transport system is proposed based on a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-composed wavelength selector. The passband window of the wavelength selector can be electrically adjusted to select a specific lightwave from multiple injected optical carriers and attenuate the others.

Power-Over-Fiber for Radio-Over-Fiber-Based Distributed Antenna Systems

CLEO Pacific Rim Conference, 2018
Power-over-fiber is one of the essential technologies for simultaneously transmitting data and power in a same optical fiber. This paper introduces power-over-fiber towards practical applications of radio-over-fiber-based distributed antenna systems for future mobile networks.

Radio over fiber for mobile communications

2004 IEEE International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (IEEE Cat. No.04EX859), 2005
Radio over fiber is becoming an increasingly important technology for the in-building wireless market. The dynamic range requirements and optimum choice of laser are identified for this application. Furthermore, a novel architecture based on switched radio over fiber is proposed, which gives important benefits in terms of design, installation and ...

Low-Cost Radio-over-Fiber links

LEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
Radio-over-fiber links based on directly modulated lasers for low-cost designs are reviewed. Multimode fiber transmission with VCSELs is promising and is focused on. Key system aspects are investigated and RF transmission over long distances is demonstrated.

Radio over Fiber for Broadband Communications

2009
The high capacity offered by the optical fiber, combined with the mobility and the flexibility of wireless access, either fixed or not, provides an efficient approach to alleviating the requirements posed by the envisaged provision of any-service, anytime and anywhere, next generation communication networks.

DWDM aspects of radio-over-fiber

LEOS 2000. 2000 IEEE Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings. 13th Annual Meeting. IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 2000 Annual Meeting (Cat. No.00CH37080), 2002
Fixed wireless access provides an attractive option for 'last mile' delivery of broadband services in urban areas. The availability of spectrum in the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) band allows delivery of digital voice, video and data services. Optical transport may play an important role in point-to-multipoint (PMP) fixed wireless access systems by ...

Techniques for Radio over Fiber Networks

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2006
In this paper we will present networking concepts for vertically integrated Radio over fibre networks that include complex network functions. We explore the issue that are involved in the construction of dynamically reconfigurable radio-over-fibre networks.

Optically Powered Radio-Over-Fiber Systems

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018
This paper introduces recent works on optically powered radio-over-fiber systems, which drive remote antenna units by power-over-fiber without any other external power supplies. This paper also discusses the perspective on future mobile communications.
