Photonic Generation and Transmission of 2 Gbit/s Power-Efficient Impulse Radio for OOK Modulated Ultrawideband over Fiber System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose and demonstrate a flexible and high-speed impulse radio ultrawideband (IR-UWB) over fiber system using various modulation schemes. Two kinds of fully Federal Communication Commission (FCC) compliant UWB pulses are produced, which is based on ...

Multi-core Fiber Based Mm-wave Generation, Radio-over-Fiber, and Power-over-Fiber [PDF]

open access: yes2018 11th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2018
We propose a multi-core fiber (MCFs) based concept which simultaneously use to generate millimeter wave (mm-wave) signal; a radio over fiber link; and a power over fiber link. In the proposed system, some cores of MCFs are used to generate mm-wave signal using an optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) topology, few of the cores are used to transport data ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Remote downconversion with wavelength reuse for the radio/fiber uplink connection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The authors present a novel technology for uplink transmission in radio-over-fiber distribution systems. The technique employs remote downconversion of the uplink data to intermediate frequency (IF) in the base station (BS).

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.
