Radio resource management in HSDPA and HSUPA
Bell Labs Technical Journal, 2007This paper discusses the interaction between high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) and high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) scheduling algorithms running in the Node B and other resource management algorithms in the radio network controller (RNC), which are still required to satisfy user-perceived quality.

Cooperative Resource Management in Cognitive Radio
2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007Cognitive radio is generally understood as an intelligent wireless communication system aiming at the efficient utilization of radio resources. We argue for the extension of its scope to also address the management of computing resources, including processing and bandwidth capacities of SDR platforms, and present a cooperative resource management ...

2006
Over the last few years wireless communications have experienced an unprecedented growth providing ubiquitous services irrespective of users’ location and mobility patterns. This chapter reviews different resource management strategies for wireless cellular networks that employ Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA).

Radio resource management of D2D communication
2014 IEEE International Conference on Communication Systems, 2014Device-to-Device (D2D) is considered as a promising technique to improve resource utilization and provide new application in future wireless networks. This paper addresses the problem of radio resource allocation for D2D communication. Basically, resource allocation can be carried out in centralized or distributed manner.

QoE Prediction for Radio Resource Management
2011In this paper, we introduce a monitoring tool which measures application-specific parameters. These parameters are used to predict the QoE and to perform resource management based on QoE thresholds. We demonstrate the tool for YouTube traffic in an IEEE 802.11 mesh network.

Resource Modeling for a Joint Resource Management in Cognitive Radio
2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2008Cognitive radio characterizes an ambient aware and software-defined radio system that is capable to autonomously and intelligently adjust the system parameters. It has the potential to optimize the usage of all relevant resources for service- driven wireless communications.

Evolution of Radio Resource Management: A Case for Cognitive Resource Manager with VPI
2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007The cognitive radio and cognitive wireless networks paradigms are interesting candidates for the next generation self-organizing and self-reconfigurable wireless networks. In this paper we argue that the concept of cognitive resource manager as an evolution of the classical radio resource manager in the cellular networks is a promising concept to ...

Resource Management for Software-Defined Radio Clouds
IEEE Micro, 2012Software-defined radio (SDR) clouds combine SDR concepts with cloud computing technology for designing and managing future base stations. They provide a scalable solution for the evolution of wireless communications. The authors focus on the resource management implications and propose a hierarchical approach for dynamically managing the real-time ...

A Perspective on Radio Resource Management in B3G
2006 3rd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems, 2006Beyond 3G usually refers to heterogeneous scenarios where different radio access technologies (RATs) coexist and operate in a coordinated way. This brings a new challenge to offer services to the users over an efficient and ubiquitous radio access. In this way, the user can be served through the RAT that fits better to the terminal capabilities and ...
