Sources of environmental pollution information: radioactivity

Aslib Proceedings, 1988
Since international relations are highly developed in radiological protection, many of the sources of information are international agencies or organisations overseas. This paper explains the role of the more important agencies, particularly the International Commission on Radiological Protection and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Groundwater Pollution and the Disposal of Hazardous and Radioactive Wastes

Water and Environment Journal, 1989
ABSTRACTThe demand for‘Rolls‐Royce’ solutions to the disposal of hazardous and radioactive wastes has seen a continuing move towards more sophisticated disposal concepts. If a disposal site for radioactive wastes meets the strict requirements laid down by Government departments it is difficult to see why there should be any impact to groundwater of ...

Radioactive pollution exposed by low tide in France

BMJ, 1997
An exceptionally low tide off Cherbourg in Brittany has given Greenpeace the chance to show radioactive leakage from the Cogema reprocessing plant at La Hague. About 20m of a pipe ejecting waste material 1.6 km out to sea became exposed, and brief testing with a Geiger counter showed high radioactivity. Greenpeace then asked the independent commission
