Diffusion capability of Cs-137 in compacted soil and bentonite under groundwater-saturated condition
Several researches have been studied the diffusion coefficient (Da) of radionuclide in soil samples in varies location around the world; however, the effect of cations in groundwater as a medium of saturation for Cs-137 diffusion in soil and bentonite ...

Engineered nanoparticles potentials in male reproduction
Abstract Background The escalating prevalence of fertility problems in the aging population necessitates a comprehensive exploration of contributing factors, extending beyond environmental concerns, work‐related stress, and unhealthy lifestyles. Among these, the rising incidence of testicular disorders emerges as a pivotal determinant of fertility ...

Permeability changes in Boom clay with temperature [PDF]
In the framework of research into radioactive waste disposal, this paper presents some tests carried out to investigate the effects of temperature on the changes in permeability of Boom between 20 and 90 deg C. Constant head permeability tests were carried out in a high pressure isotropic compression tests at various temperature and isotropic stresses.

Foundational guiding principles for a flourishing Earth system
Abstract In this perspectives article, we maintain that the current local to global sustainable development predicaments we face are the result of humanity's impact on the Earth System (ES)—that is to say, on the very systemic fabric of the ES (i.e., its functioning and configuration), combined with an insufficiently coherent application of sustainable

A new approach in the detection of weak γ-ray peak of the radioactive waste in tomography γ scanning [PDF]
We demonstrate a new approach to efficiently detect weak {\gamma}-ray peak of the radioactive waste in tomographic {\gamma} scanning (TGS). In the TGS measurement, {\gamma}-ray peak identification is usually difficult due to the short measurement time that results in a lower {\gamma}-ray energy produced by the decay.

The virtues of limits and environmental sustainability in healthcare
Abstract The spectre of human‐induced climate change has drawn attention to the need to discover new, environmentally sustainable approaches to healthcare. This article draws upon David McPherson's The Virtues of Limits (2021) to develop a virtue ethics for sustainability in healthcare.

Actinide Decontamination by Microwave Atmospheric Pressure Plasma jet: A Systematic Study Supported by Optical Emission Spectroscopy [PDF]
A single electrode microwave based atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) had been developed, characterized and applied for decontamination of Pu based synthetic radioactive waste. Argon plasma with small amount of CF4 and O2 was used for this purpose.

Utilization of bentonite in cementation of Cs-137-contaminated electric arc furnace dust
Cementation was employed to harden the Cs-137-contaminated electric arc furnace dust. The dust and cement were used as cementation binders. Bentonite was added to resist the Cs-137 leaching from the dust-cement-bentonite specimens.

Drivers of glacially induced fault reactivation in the Baltic Sea sector of the Tornquist Fan
We analyse the effect of Quaternary glaciations on the complex tectonic pattern of the Baltic Sea sector of the Tornquist Fan. Using 2D marine reflection seismic data we determine the strike and dip angles of more than 40 potential glacially reactivated faults and calculated the Coulomb failure stress changes (ΔCFS) over the past 200 000 years.
