Research on the degradation mechanism, product effects and optimization strategy of the tributyl phosphate solvent system in the PUREX process

open access: yesSmart Molecules, Volume 4, Issue 1, March 2026.
This paper focuses on reviewing the degradation mechanisms of tributyl phosphate and its diluents, the analytical technique suitable for characterizing degradation products, and the impact of degradation products on the post‐treatment process, offering a theoretical foundation and technical insights in optimizing the plutonium uranium redox extraction ...

Exploring the Formation and Age of Irregular Mare Patches (IMPs) to the Southeast of the Chang'e‐5 Landing Site

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Recently, possible exceptionally young mare volcanic glass beads were discovered in Chang'e‐5 (CE‐5) samples. Isotopic dating suggests an age of approximately 120 Ma, presenting new challenges to existing lunar thermal evolution models. Thus, our research focuses on the source region of Rima Mairan, a branch of Rima Sharp, and its surrounding ...

Modeling Transient Groundwater Flow in Unconfined Aquifers Under Dynamic Conditions Using Physics‐Informed Neural Networks

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Deep learning neural networks (DLNNs) hold great potential for modeling groundwater flow, but their performance depends on data availability. Physics‐informed neural networks (PINNs) help to reduce the reliance of DLNNs on data by integrating physical laws into the training process. This approach is increasingly used in applications related to

Effect of Silica Particle Size and Primary Foaming Intensity on Rhenium Retention During High‐Level Waste Glass Melting

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
The effect of silica particle size and primary foaming on rhenium (Re) retention was investigated in a simulated high‐level waste melter feed. Despite increased primary foaming, finer silica particles enhanced Re retention due to faster dissolution and higher viscosity of the transient glass‐forming melt.

Heat Transfer in Nuclear Waste Glasses: Measurements and Modeling of Thermal Radiation Properties

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT We measured and modeled near‐infrared extinction of nuclear waste glasses from 300°C to 1150°C to enable predictive radiation heat transfer and thermal conductivity estimates. A composition‐ and redox‐informed model resolved contributions from key chromophores (Fe+2‐O‐Fe+3, V+4, free and bonded ≡Si‐OH groups) and, when present, spinel ...
