Lower Glacial Oxygen in the Eastern Equatorial Pacific Concentrated in the Deep Sea
Abstract Oxygen in the global oceans has declined since the 1960s, including in the Eastern Equatorial Pacific (EEP). Reconstructions of EEP glacial oxygenation help advance understanding of current and projected ocean deoxygenation. Previous estimates of the glacial oxygen deficient zones (ODZs) in the upper EEP are poorly constrained. Here we include

ABSTRACT Objectives The assessment of cortical bone loss in archeological populations can give insights into past lifeways and bone health. The second metacarpal index (MCI) is assessed via radiogrammetry to quantify cortical thickness. However, as this method is limited to a single‐point measurement, this study explores the use of micro‐computed ...

Polygonal tepee structures of Arabia
Tepee structures on Sheybarah Island form polygonal microbial cemented crusts in the intertidal. Radiocarbon dating suggests they formed in the Holocene and reflect minor sea‐level changes, highlighting their value as palaeoenvironmental indicators. Satellite surveys identified 126 polygonal features, including coral reefs that may have developed on ...

Cluster‐based chemostratigraphy using XRF‐CS enables high‐resolution correlation of event deposits across contrasting depositional settings in the Japan Trench. This approach reveals previously unrecognised events and compositional heterogeneity, offering new insights into sediment provenance and earthquake‐triggered deposition, with implications for ...

This study characterises carbonate mineral precipitation mechanisms and their paleoenvironmental implications in a semi‐arid, saline playa lake system. SEM image with EDS spectra shows microcrystalline, spherical shaped dolomite crystals from Laguna Fuente de Piedra composed of nanocrystals with bacterial voids and EPS.
