Microfabric distribution controls porosity, preservation and erosion in Late Pleistocene microbialites from the Maquinchao Basin (Argentina). Differential preservation of laminated and shrub fabrics shapes the present morphology of the carbonate build‐ups and influences their palaeoenvironmental interpretation.

Peatlands at Southernmost Permafrost Edge: Rapid Carbon Accumulation but High Vulnerability to Drying

Little Ice Age cooling promoted peat initiation and permafrost development at the southern permafrost margin. Rapid carbon accumulation was sustained by permafrost‐suppressed decay and high photosynthetically active radiation, but recent warming‐driven drying is reducing carbon accumulation and increasing carbon‐loss risk.
