Belfast Radiocarbon Dates VI [PDF]
The dating equipment and operating conditions remain essentially as previously described. This list includes some small samples counted at a filling pressure equivalent to 76cm Hg. at 20°C. Carbon isotope ratios were obtained and calculated as described (R., 1973, v. 15, p. 212). All samples are from Ireland.

Between a rock and a soft place: Using optical ages to date ancient clam gardens on the Pacific Northwest. [PDF]
Rock-walled archaeological features are notoriously hard to date, largely because of the absence of suitable organic material for radiocarbon dating. This study demonstrates the efficacy of dating clam garden wall construction using optical dating, and ...

Chronology of Central European Impulses in the Volga Forest Region: Fatyanovo and Abashevo Cultures
There is a difference in chronology based on radiocarbon dating and historical dates associated with Near Eastern written sources. With the introduction of AMS dating, this gap has become smaller, but has not disappeared.

The Problems of Radiocarbon Dating [PDF]
In their Perspective “The boon and Bane of radiocarbon dating” (21 Jan., p. [362][1]), T. P. Guilderson et al. raise some important issues in radiocarbon (14C) dating. They discuss the problems of calibrating 14C dates that fall within “age plateaus” of the 14C calibration curve and ...

High-precision radiocarbon dating of the construction phase of Oakbank Crannog, Loch Tay, Perthshire [PDF]
Many of the Loch Tay crannogs were built in the Early Iron Age and so calibration of the radiocarbon ages produces very broad calendar age ranges due to the well-documented Hallstatt plateau in the calibration curve. However, the large oak timbers that

Assessment of oxygen plasma ashing as a pre-treatment for radiocarbon dating [PDF]
This study investigates the potential of low-temperature oxygen plasma ashing as a technique for decontaminating charcoal and wood samples prior to radiocarbon dating.

The strengths of formal Bayesian chronological modelling are restated, combining as it does knowledge of the archaeology with the radiocarbon dating of carefully chosen samples of known taphonomy in association with diagnostic material culture.

The New Zealand Kauri (Agathis Australis) Research Project: A Radiocarbon Dating Intercomparison of Younger Dryas Wood and Implications for IntCal13 [PDF]
We describe here the New Zealand kauri (Agathis australis) Younger Dryas (YD) research project, which aims to undertake Δ14C analysis of ~140 decadal floating wood samples spanning the time interval ~13.1–11.7 kyr cal BP.
