A new method of readout in radiochromic film dosimetry

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1998
Radiochromic film as a dosimetry medium offers several advantages in high-resolution radiography. A new technique of readout was developed to measure the optical density distributions of the film in purely directed light. This technique implements radiochromic film dosimetry near the film's absorption maximum by using a single-mode top-surface emitting

Radiochromic Dye Film Studies for Brachytherapy Applications

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2002
Commercial radiochromic dye films have been used in recent years to quantify absorbed dose in several medical applications. In this study we present the characterisation of the GafChromic MD-55-2 dye film, a double sensitive layer film suitable for photon irradiation in brachytherapy applications. Dose measurements were carried out with a low dose rate

A radiochromic dye film for UV dosimetry

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 1992
Abstract A mixture of colourless new fuchsin dye and sandolan yellow dye was incorporated into a thin film of poly(vinyl alcohol) polymer to form a yellow UV radiation dosimeter which changed to red when exposed to UV radiation. The depth of the red colour was dependent solely on the radiant exposure.

Radiochromic film dosimetry for clinical proton beams

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1997
Depth doses and lateral profiles for proton beams with energies of 100-250 MeV were measured with a high-sensitivity GafChromic MD-55 film, which requires no post-irradiation development. The exposed MD-55 films were evaluated with the RIT 113 film dosimetry system.

On the re-calibration process in radiochromic film dosimetry

Physica Medica, 2017
The accuracy and precision of the dose estimates obtained with radiochromic film dosimetry are investigated in a clinical environment. The improvement in the accuracy of dose estimates reached with corrective methods is analyzed. Two novel re-calibration algorithms for radiochromic film dosimetry are presented. Two different EBT3 lots are evaluated in ...

Novel Radiochromic Films for Clinical Dosimetry

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1996
New transparent radiochromic films, GafChromic MD-55 and NMD-55, which turn from colourless to deep blue upon irradiation, have been designed particularly for measuring radiation therapy absorbed doses (1 Gy to 100Gy). They are also useful for high resolution mapping of dose distributions, radiographic imaging, treatment planning dosimetry, beam ...

Radiochromic properties of α–terthiophene–cellulose triacetate films

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2000
An a-terthiophene/cellulose triacetate ®lm system exposed to g-rays and electron beam shows two new bands in the visible region of the spectrum. The absorbance at 490 nm is almost stable for a long time and responds linearly to the dose applied up to 400 kGy. A second band developed at 700 nm depends on dose rate and may indicate a chain-growth.
