Cost‐Utility Analysis of Intracapsular and Extracapsular Techniques for Pediatric Tonsillectomy

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Intracapsular coblation tonsillectomy (ICT) is more cost‐effective than extracapsular tonsillectomy (ECT) in pediatric patients, particularly for ambulatory procedures. In a prospective cohort of over 5000 cases, ICT was associated with lower costs and comparable or better quality‐adjusted life years, even when accounting for potential revision ...

Temperature controlled radiofrequency ablation.

open access: yesIndian pacing and electrophysiology journal, 2002
Since its introduction in 1987, radiofrequency (RF) ablation has developed to become the treatment of choice for symptoms caused by atrio ventricular (AV) reentrant tachycardia, isthmus related atrial flutter, AV-nodal reentrant tachycardia and to some extent also for certain types of ventricular tachycardias. The introduction of new cardiac activation

Anterior Nasal Nerves: A Cadaveric Anatomic and Immunohistochemical Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Anterior nasal nerves (ANNs) were identified in all cadavers, with more supplying the anterolateral nasal wall (ALNW) than the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate (IT), between the pyriform aperture (PA) and middle turbinate (MT). Both sensory and autonomic nerve markers were also identified in the ANNs.

Transoral Robotic Lingual Tonsillectomy for Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Our objective was to investigate the safety and efficacy of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) lingual tonsillectomy (LT) with and without epiglottopexy and to compare it with non‐robotic approaches for children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Prospective Evaluation of a Fractional 675‐nm Nonablative Laser for Atrophic Acne Scars in Fitzpatrick Skin Types III–IV

open access: yesLasers in Surgery and Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Energy‐based treatments for atrophic acne scars (AAS) in darker skin phototypes must balance efficacy with pigmentary safety. While the nonablative 675‐nm laser has shown promise with minimal risk of adverse effects, prospective data in Asian populations remain limited.

Monopolar Radiofrequency for Dermal Prejuvenation: Scientific Rationale and Mechanisms of Action

open access: yesLasers in Surgery and Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To summarize the scientific rationale for the use of the monopolar radiofrequency tissue tightening system (monoRF) for the prevention of dermal aging (termed prejuvenation). Materials and Methods This narrative review summarizes the basic science of dermal aging and monoRF‐induced collagen remodeling and neocollagenesis.
