Radiofrequency Ablation: Evolution of a Treatment
Seminars in Vascular Surgery, 2010Superficial venous insufficiency of the lower extremities is a common affliction. There are several modalities available to the clinician to treat this problem. This article specifically examines the technique of radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of superficial venous insufficiency.

Endoscopic radiofrequency biliary ablation treatment: A comprehensive review
Digestive Endoscopy, 2019Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) functions by delivering thermal energy within tissue, the result of a high‐frequency alternating current released from an active electrode, leading to coagulative necrosis and cellular death.

Radiofrequency ablation of tumors
Proceedings of the IEEE 31st Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, 2005., 2005Radiofrequency (RF) ablation of hepatic tumors is investigated. Modeling efforts show that it is possible to determine the temperature variation in the tissue depending on the level of RF energy input. Surgeons and radiologists who are performing such procedures may find it useful to view the temperature-time history of the tissue before the actual ...

Radiofrequency Thermal Ablation
2007Over the last decade, radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFA) has become an accepted treatment modality for unresectable primary and metastatic liver tumors. It can be performed either percutaneously, laparoscopically, or via an open approach. With experience, indications and selection criteria have been determined for each tumor type. RFA has become the

Radiofrequency Ablation in Metastatic Disease [PDF]
The liver is the most common site of metastas from colorectal cancer. Hepatic metastases are the major cause of morbidity and mortality in those patients. Surgical resection provides the greatest potential for cure in patients with secondary liver tumors but can be offered to only a small number of patients (5%-20%).

Radiofrequency Ablation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
2004The majority of patients with primary or metastatic hepatic tumors are not candidates for resection because of tumor size, location near major intrahepatic blood vessels precluding a margin-negative resection, multifocality, or inadequate hepatic function related to coexistent cirrhosis.
