A Standardized Technique for Ultrasound–MRI Fusion Imaging of the Carotid Artery for Vascular Assessment

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Purpose To describe a reproducible ultrasound–magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) fusion imaging technique developed for quantitative assessment of carotid wall strain and plaque morphology. Methods MRI volumes (Oblique T2 Cube) were imported into the Sequoia ultrasound system equipped with an electromagnetic tracking module.

Optimal Transmission Performance of Quadrature Wireless Resonators at 3 T

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To demonstrate a method for optimizing the efficiency of wireless resonators using tailored excitation from a dual‐transmit birdcage coil (BC), and to present the design and experimental investigation of a quadrature resonator for 3 T breast MRI application.

Systematic Review of the Exposure Assessment and Epidemiology of High-Frequency Voltage Transients

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2016
Conclusions of epidemiological studies describing adverse health effects as a result of exposure to electromagnetic fields are not unanimous and often contradictory. It has been proposed that an explanation could be that high frequency voltage transients

An Adaptive Metasurface for Adjustable Magnetic Resonance Imaging Enhancement at 3 T and 7 T: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Ultra‐high field (≥ 7 T) and 3 T MRI suffer from B1+ inhomogeneity and signal loss. Conventional metasurfaces that mitigate B1+ inhomogeneity and improve image SNR are “fixed” in nature and designed for a single Larmor frequency. This study demonstrates the feasibility of an adaptive metasurface utilizing voltage‐controlled capacitors ...

Effect of Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Field on Human DNA

open access: yesDefence Science Journal, 2006
Biological effect of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation on the human genome has been a cause of growing concern owing to its increased application. In the present paper, effect of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of the personnel working near/in radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation environment (radar ...

Combined Metasurface and Metamaterial Passive Transmit Lens and Receive Array for 3 T

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metasurfaces (MSs) and metamaterials (MMs) can reduce transmit field nulls caused by wavelength effects at higher MR field strengths. We present a layered MM and MS resonant structure that improves transmit field performance when used as a combined slab (i.e., the metaslab), while also operating as a receive array.

Theory of electromagnetic fields

open access: yes, 2010
We discuss the theory of electromagnetic fields, with an emphasis on aspects relevant to radiofrequency systems in particle accelerators. We begin by reviewing Maxwell's equations and their physical significance.
