Metamaterial-Inspired Radiofrequency (RF) Shield With Reduced Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and Improved Transmit Efficiency for UHF MRI

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2020
To prevent the interferences between radiofrequency (RF) coils and other components in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system such as gradient coils, it is essential to place an RF shield between the RF coils and gradient coils. However, the induced

Combined treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa with intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF)

Journal of dermatological treatment (Print), 2019
Background Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic inflammatory disease with high burden. Treatment options are often unsatisfactory. We assessed the effect of a combination therapy of intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF).

Basic Principles of and Practical Guide to Clinical MRI Radiofrequency Coils.

Radiographics, 2022
Radiofrequency (RF) coils are an essential MRI component used for transmission of the RF field to excite nuclear spins and for reception of the MRI signal. They play an important role in image quality in terms of signal-to-noise ratio, signal uniformity,

Stray RF field strength during radiofrequency endometrial ablation

Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology, 1996
A study has been carried out of the RF field strength around a total of 17 patients undergoing radio-frequency endometrial ablation in three hospital centres. The mean equivalent power density at the position of the surgeon exceeded 10 W m-2, which is the derived investigation level for exposure to electromagnetic fields.

Integrated cooperative radiofrequency (RF) and kinetic energy harvester

2017 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), 2017
This work demonstrates an integrated cooperative power harvester collecting both RF and kinetic energy simultaneously. A permanent magnet and coils based kinetic generator and a RF energy receiving antenna are combined on one single board with a rectifier circuit.

RADIOFREQUENCY TRANSIENT BEHAVIOUR OF OHMIC RF-MEMS SWITCHES

Sensors and Microsystems, 2008
In this paper the transient behaviour of ohmic RF-MEMS switches will be investigated by both experimental and simulation means. The devices are based on a suspended gold membrane and vertical electrostatic transduction, with gold ohmic contacts along the RF signal path.

RF-Sim: a treatment planning tool for radiofrequency ablation of hepatic tumors

Proceedings on Seventh International Conference on Information Visualization, 2003. IV 2003., 2004
With recent advancements of technology, radiofrequency ablation has become one of the most used techniques to treat liver tumors. But radiologists still have to face the difficulty of planning their treatment while only relying on 2D slices acquired from CT-scan.
