Alpha-gamma equalization-enhanced hand radiographic image segmentation scheme

Optical Engineering, 2009
Bone age assessment of children is a procedure frequently performed in pediatric radiology. The feature extractions of metaphyseal and epiphyseal regions are crucial to automatic bone age assessment. The first step of feature extraction is applying a segmentation scheme to find exact regions of epiphysis and metaphysis.

Enhancing recognition of lesions in radiographic images using perceptual feedback

Optical Engineering, 1998
When radiologists search a medical x-ray image for an abnor- mality, their eyes often fixate and refixate the true target, dwelling on it for prolonged times, often without recognizing that they have discovered the object of search. Monitoring the eye position of the radiologist pro- vides the x and y coordinates of the dwelling location. This location

[Enhancement of bite-wing radiographs by digital image processing].

Zeitschrift fur Stomatologie (1984), 1990
Extracted premolars with an initial approximal caries were subjected to radiographic and histological examination. Radiographs were taken with the rectangular technique as used for bite-wing radiographs. Digital image processing was found to enhance the image information so that the border of caries lesions as well as histological structures, Retzius ...

Homomorphic Filtering for Radiographic Image Contrast Enhancement and Artifacts Elimination

2015
The contrast of radiographic images is provided at physical level by anti-scatter grids and is usually further improved at image processing stage. The known contrast improvement methods are mainly based on image non-linear manipulations that may cause residual artifacts in processed images.

[Digital radiographic image enhancement in bone diagnosis--initial clinical results].

Digitale Bilddiagnostik, 1989
34 patients with skeletal alterations mostly in the periphery were investigated by digital image intensifier radiography (DIIR). A high resolution image-intensifier system (1024 x 1024 matrix, 40 cm, 28 cm, 14 cm image intensifier, maximal spatial resolution: 3.6 lp/mm) was available. The image quality was diagnostic sufficient in 76% using DIIR.
