Radiation exposure to personnel in cardiological interventional radiography
2010Purpose: The doses received by the people involved in the cardiologic procedures can be quite high when compared to the annual dose limits. The highest annual dose in 2008 in cardiologic procedures in Finland was 25,8 mSv, measured over lead apron.

Pneumothorax is the most common complication after CT-guided pulmonary interventional procedures and should be promptly diagnosed and treated. Because it is easier to obtain CT scans than chest radiographs after CT-guided interventional procedures, it is important to know the sensitivity of CT in detecting pneumothoraces.

Purpose: It is traditional to review clinical cases when the time or entrance skin dose (ESD) reach or surpass certain thresholds (e.g. 60 minutes or 2Gy). We believe that the relevant threshold should be more closely tied to the clinical procedure performed.

To assess, in a young population (age 6-19) managed by a restrictive attitude to radiography and operative intervention, prevalence of patients with posterior caries and/or fillings, probabilities of new proximal dentine lesions given different caries experience, correlation between radiographic intervals and caries experience, and prevalence of ...

We assessed the role of interventional radiological procedures used in the treatment of patients with hepatopancreatobiliary cancer complicated by obstructive jaundice. Between 1990 and 2000, 71 patients underwent percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD): external drainage--18 (group A); external-internal drainage or stenting (group B), and ...

Ultraschall in der Medizin (Stuttgart, Germany : 1980), 2012
Chest radiography is standard for the diagnosis of a pneumothorax. However, also ultrasound of the chest has considerable value in the detection of a pneumothorax. A typical sonographic feature is the lack of the lung gliding sign. Aim of our trial was to evaluate the significance of ultrasound of the chest in the diagnosis of a pneumothorax ...
