Chronic Granulomatous Peritonitis From Recurrent Bilateral Ovarian Mature Cystic Teratomas Masquerade as Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

ABSTRACT Although rare, ruptured mature cystic teratoma (MCT) can cause chronic granulomatous peritonitis that mimics peritoneal carcinomatosis. In patients with a history of cystectomy for MCT, careful clinicoradiologic and histopathologic correlation is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary aggressive treatment.
