Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

A radiologist’s perspective [PDF]

open access: yesCJEM, 1999
Focused abdominal sonography in trauma (FAST) has in many centres replaced the diagnostic peritoneal lavage (DPL) for the early assessment of acute blunt abdominal trauma. In many cases a negative FAST obviates the need for further imaging and intervention.

Observer agreement in the reporting of knee and lumbar spine Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging examinations: selectively trained MR radiographers and consultant radiologists compared with an index radiologist

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: To assess agreement between trained radiographers and consultant radiologists compared withan index radiologist when reporting on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations of the knee andlumbar spine and to examine the subsequent effect of ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Visual Search Performance and Strategy for Three-Dimensional Visualization Systems: Impact of Radiologist Experience

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The visual search performance of radiologists is systematically challenged due to the use of flat-panel displays when viewing multi-slice images. Three-dimensional visualization of information is expected to facilitate visual search for radiologists ...

Agreement in neonatal x-ray interpretation: a comparison between consultant paediatric radiologists and a reporting radiographer

open access: yes, 2014
X-rays are frequently used by clinicians to aid in patient diagnosis and management; infants which require specialised neonatal care are no exception.
