Representativeness of Two Global Gridded Precipitation Data Sets in the Intensity of Surface Short-Term Precipitation over China

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
This study evaluates the representativeness of two widely used next-generation global satellite precipitation estimates data for short-term precipitation over China, namely the satellite data from the Climate Prediction Center morphing (CMORPH) and the ...

Effects of timed LED regimes on tomato plant traits, performance of two‐spotted spider mites, and predatory mites (Phytoseiulus persimilis)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2300-2311, April 2025.
Light‐emitting diode (LED)‐based treatments for enhancing crop production and pest management have primarily focused on continuous treatments. This study, using Tetranychus urticae and Phytoseiulus persimilis, demonstrates that the timing of LED supplementation is crucial for designing integrated pest management strategies that improve both plant ...

Medicane characteristics from high‐resolution satellite radar observations

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study uses high‐resolution observations from satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to reveal that medicanes, cyclones with tropical features in the Mediterranean basin, have dynamical characteristics with attributes comparable with those of tropical cyclones of similar intensities, but smaller outer sizes and Rossby numbers.

Estimation of All-Sky Gridded Diurnal Near-Surface Air Temperatures at Regional Scale From FY-4B Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The near-surface air temperature (${{T}_{air}}$) is a principal variable describing energy exchange and water circulation between the land surface and the atmospheric environment. The estimation of ${{T}_{air}}$ by satellite land surface temperature (LST)

All‐sky assimilation impacts of the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder constellation on global weather forecasts

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Accurate Satellite Operation Predictions Using Attention-BiLSTM Model with Telemetry Correlation

open access: yesAerospace
In satellite health management, anomalies are mostly resolved after an event and are rarely predicted in advance. Thus, trend prediction is critical for avoiding satellite faults, which may affect the accuracy and quality of satellite data and even ...
