Bacillus subtilis Spores labelled with Radiophosphorus [PDF]
SUMMARY: Bacillus subtilis was grown in surface culture on media containing about 0.6 mC./ml. of 32P as phosphate, and harvested after 2 days. The spore suspension was heated at 60° for 1 1/2 hr. and washed by centrifuging and resuspending in water six times. The fresh suspension contained about 2 x 109 spores/ml., of which 20 % were viable.

Africanized honeybees from five colonies were marked with P-32 and taken to an apple grove for a flight behavior study. The method used to determine the flight range was to put out an array of tagged trees in a cross pattern with the colonies arranged in

Dispersal of _Aedes aegypti_: field study in temperate areas and statistical approach [PDF]
We studied the dispersion of _Aedes aegypti_ during egg laying in natural conditions. Two independent experiments involving mosquitoes dispersing from urbanization towards adjacent un-urbanized areas were carried out and analyzed in statistical terms. We

A new technique for the separation of radiophosphorus from sulfur [PDF]
A new approach to the separation of radiophosphorus from sulfur has been found which makes a unique use of ion exchange resins. Separations using resin columns are especially suited to problems involving radioactivity since they require a minimum of ...

Thyroidal Control of Radiophosphorus Metabolism in Salmon [PDF]
THE part played by the thyroid gland in teleost metabolism has been investigated by many workers. In cold-blooded vertebrates it appears to be concerned more with growth than with general metabolism1. However, there is a great deal of controversy on practically every aspect of thyroid physiology.

Dispersal of Aedes aegypti: Field study in temperate areas using a novel method [PDF]
Background & objectives: Since Aedes aegypti was identified as vector of yellow fever and dengue, its dispersal is relevant for disease control. We studied the dispersal of Ae.

The direct measurement of ATP and adenine nucleotide pool turnover in microorganisms: a new method for environmental assessment of metabolism, energy flux and phosphorus dynamics [PDF]
A method has been devised which enables the direct measurement of ATP and adenine nucleotide pool turnover. The method is based upon the incorporation of 32PO4 into the α-, β-, γ-P positions of ATP.
