Computer assistance in planning radiotherapy seed implants

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1979
Abstract The problem of how many radioactive seeds to implant and where to put them is formulated as a zero-one integer variable programming problem. The mathematical solution of such a formulated problem serves as an aid in planning a permanent seed implant.

Computer assisted treatment planning for 125I ophthalmic plaque radiotherapy

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1989
This paper describes a computer program for planning the treatment of ocular tumors with 125I plaques. The program permits the input of the tumor configuration into a model eye and facilitates the viewing of the relative geometry of the tumor and various eye structures in different perspectives.

Computer‐assisted positioning of radiotherapy patients using implanted radiopaque fiducials

Medical Physics, 1993
For certain external beam radiotherapy procedures, precise alignment of patients with the treatment beam is essential for good treatment outcome. A method has been developed for quickly achieving precise patient alignment with the aid of stereoscopically located fiducial markers.

Computer-assisted conformation radiotherapy with a variable thickness multi-leaf filter

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1989
A new computer-assisted conformation radiotherapy with a variable thickness multi-leaf filter system was developed. Each wedgeshaped compensating filter (aluminum, tan theta = 0.1) travels against the movement of the ipsilateral leaf and according to defined parameters. By using our filter, a homogenous dose distribution in the target area was obtained

Computer-assisted morphonuclear characterization of radiotherapy-induced effects in MXT mouse mammary adenocarcinomas surviving earlier radiotherapy

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1995
To present the effects of different radiotherapeutic treatments on the morphonuclear characteristics and growth of the MXT mouse mammary adenocarcinoma. We collected MXT tumor cells by means of fine-needle aspirations during various radiotherapeutic treatments and analyzed the morphological aspects of the cell nuclei by means of the digital cell image ...

Computer-assisted method for intracavitary radiotherapy of cancer of the uterine cervix

Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1978
This paper describes a simple computer system for calculating the radiation dose rate to selected points in the pelvis of a patient treated by gynaecological insertion of applicators loaded with radioactive sources. The calculations are performed on the basis of radiographs made before the sources are placed in the applicators. The system consists of a

Technique for axillary radiotherapy using computer‐assisted planning for high‐risk skin cancer†

Australasian Radiology, 2007
SummaryHigh‐risk skin cancer arising on the upper limb or trunk can cause axillary nodal metastases. Previous studies have shown that axillary radiotherapy improves regional control. There is little published work on technique. Technique standardization is important in quality assurance and comparison of results especially for trials.

Computer-assisted targeted therapy (CATT) for prostate radiotherapy planning by fusion of CT and MRI

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
In this paper, we present a comprehensive, quantitative imaging framework for improved treatment of prostate cancer via computer-assisted targeted therapy (CATT) to facilitate radiotherapy dose escalation to regions with a high likelihood of disease presence.

SU‐GG‐J‐58: Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy: Computer‐Assisted Verification of a Lung Tumor Region Using EPID without Implanted Markers

Medical Physics, 2010
Purpose: Our purpose of this study was to develop a computer‐assisted verification method for lung tumor regions using a Gaussian image enhancement based on second derivatives of Gaussian functions in cine images on an EPID without implanted markers during SBRT.
