Estimation of global radon exhalation rate distribution [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
A radon exhalation rate distribution model was developed, which considers dependency on soil water saturation, soil temperature and soil texture. The global averages of the radon exhalation rates were calculated to be 17.5 and 18.0 mBq⋅m−2⋅s−1 by the model with different input soil moisture data.

Factors controlling measurements of radon mass exhalation rate

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2005
Radon mass exhalation rate of soil samples was measured using an exhalation chamber of 10 dm(3) volume and a Lucas cell. The results show that mass of sample, grain size and water content influence the radon mass exhalation rate. For soil of (226)Ra activity concentration about 2500 Bq kg(-1) and samples within the range from 0.20 kg to 0.50 kg, the ...

Continuous measurement of radon exhalation rate of soil in Beijing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2014
To understand the level of radon exhalation rate from soil surface and its variation, a continuous measurement system was developed and applied for a field measurement in Beijing from April 2012 to February 2013. For seasonal variation, It was indicated by measurement results that radon exhalation rate was higher in spring (52.9 mBq m−2 s−1 in average)

Study on the influence of water saturation on radon exhalation rates of rocks

Science of the Total Environment
The radon exhalation characteristics of rocks will change significantly during water saturation treatment, and radon, as an important tracer, is of great significance in predicting rock activities. In this paper, the radon exhalation characteristics of rocks after saturated with different water contents were studied by centrifugal test, radon ...
