Chebyshev Inversion of the Radon Transform

open access: yes, 2016
In its two-dimensional form, the Radon transform of an image (function) is a collection of projections of the image which are parameterized by a set of angles (from the positive x-axis) and distances from the origin.

Eriope barrinhae (Lamiaceae, Hyptidinae), a new montane species from northern Minas Gerais, Brazil

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
In northern Minas Gerais, in the Monte Azul region, the Pico da Formosa mountain remains poorly explored botanically despite recent discoveries of new taxa. During fieldwork at the summit of this mountain, we discovered a distinctive population of Eriope that differs from all known species by a unique combination of morphological characters.

From the brink of extinction to regulation: northern Europe's white‐tailed eagles now face density dependence and climate constraints after rapid population growth

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Population growth reflects the combined influence of regulation and density‐independent factors operating through demographic processes. Under exceptional circumstances (e.g. populations recovering from near‐extinction), growth may initially be weakly regulated but typically slows as negative density dependence (NDD) sets in.

Calibrating p‐values in ecology: a practical framework for integrating prior plausibility into statistical inference

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Misinterpretation of p‐values, coupled with insufficient consideration of the prior plausibility of ecological hypotheses, leads to overconfident and often unreliable inference in ecological research. To address this issue, we present a methodological framework for p‐value calibration that reinterprets conventional p‐values through minimum Bayes ...

Wavelet Localization of the Radon Transform

open access: yes, 1993
In this paper we develop an algorithm which significantly reduces radiation exposure in x-ray tomography, when a local region of the body is to be imaged. The algorithm uses the properties of wavelets to essentially localize the Radon transform.

Pediatric Preanesthesia Assessment Electronic Triage Tool: Implementation, Quality Improvement, and Retrospective Observational Evaluation of a Patient‐Administered Questionnaire

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Preanesthesia assessment is essential but resource‐intensive. Electronic health records (EHRs) are widespread, yet pediatric perioperative screening remains variable. Objective To develop and implement a preanesthesia triage tool based on patient‐administered electronic triage questionnaire (PAC‐Q) integrated with the Epic EHR to ...
