Analysis of corrugation evolution characteristics based on scale-down tests – contact stick-slip perspective [PDF]

open access: yesRailway Sciences
Purpose – Rail corrugation is still one of the unsolved challenges in the railway industry, and the abnormal vibration and high-frequency noise caused by it constitute serious adverse effects on the operating environment.

A literature review on the applications of artificial intelligence to European rail transport safety

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 18, Issue 12, Page 2291-2324, December 2024.
In accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/797 relating to the inoperability of the European railway system, around a hundred articles (122) which deal with applications of artificial intelligence and in particular machine learning, neural networks, ontologies and knowledge graphs are studied and classified by types of railway subsystems.

The formation, development and classification of rail corrugation: a survey on Chinese metro

open access: yesRailway Engineering Science
Investigations into rail corrugation within metro systems have traditionally focused on specific mechanisms, thereby limiting the generalizability of proposed theories.

Energy Absorption of a Novel Lattice Structure‐Filled Multicell Thin‐Walled Tubes Under Axial and Oblique Loadings

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 26, Issue 20, October 2024.
This study introduces the β‐Ti3Au lattice structure as a novel filling material to enhance the energy absorption of thin‐walled multicell tubes. It examines the effects of lattice unit cell numbers, lattice strut diameter, tube cell numbers, and tube thickness on energy absorption using validated nonlinear finite element models.

Rail Corrugation Characteristics Deduced from a Wavelet Analysis of High-Speed Train Interior Noise and Vibration

open access: yesShock and Vibration
A method to deduce the characteristics of rail corrugation was developed and presented in this paper. It has been found that noise and vibration in the train vehicle were primarily contributed by rail corrugation and wheel polygonalisation.

Experimental Study on Vibration and Building Response Induced by Rail Corrugation in Metro Small-Radius Curves

open access: yesBuildings
The vibrations induced by urban rail transit are exerting an increasingly prominent influence on the surrounding buildings and human health. As a prevalent track defect, rail corrugation can exacerbate the vibrations generated during train operation.

Verification of elastically supported beam model for growth mechanism analysis of rail corrugation

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
Rail corrugation that causes the vibration and the noise is a phenomenon in which roughness patterns of approximately regular wavelengths are formed on the rail running surface by trains running.

ROLLING NOISE SIMULATION OF A RAILWAY VEHICLE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Rolling noise of the railway vehicles is occurred by the wheel/rail vibration excited bythe rolling surfaces roughness. This paper presents an acoustic model able to predict the rollingnoise level of a railway vehicle.

Designing Corrugated Board Properties to Mitigate Puncturing Impacts Occurring in E‐Commerce or Other Demanding Parcel Handling Distribution Chains

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 37, Issue 10, Page 1017-1033, October 2024.
Design equations have been developed based on the properties of containerboards and corrugated board to describe how well a corrugated board can withstand puncture damage upon impact with other objects. These equations quantify the energy loss when an object impacts with and penetrates a corrugated board panel, resulting in a hole.

Study on the Influence of the Small Radius Curve Rail Corruqation on Locomotive Curve Passing Safety of Heavy Haul Railway

open access: yes机车电传动, 2020
As the axle weight of the locomotive continues to increase, the wheel-rail wear is intensified, and rail corrugation on the small radius curve becomes more and more common.
