Trends in the incidence of rain rates associated with outages on fixed links operating above 10 GHz in the southern United Kingdom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Studies have shown that climate change is leading to an increase in the incidence of heavy rain in the United Kingdom, particularly over winter. The major interest has been on the hydrological impacts of this increase, and so studies have focused on rain

Analysis on atmospheric profiles retrieved from microwave radiometer observation at Ganzi in the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2019
Microwave radiometer (MWR) can retrieve atmospheric profiles with a temporal resolution of several minutes, which compensates for the low temporal resolution of the meteorological radiosonde data.

Assessing the Effects of Microphysical Scheme on Convective and Stratiform Characteristics in a Mei-Yu Rainfall Combining WRF Simulation and Field Campaign Observations

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2020
Microphysics parameterization becomes increasingly important as the model grid spacing increases toward convection-resolving scales. Using observations from a field campaign for Mei-Yu rainfall in China, four bulk cloud microphysics schemes in the ...

Doppler radar observation and analysis of two convective gale weather events in Wuhan in May 2021

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2022
Convective gale is the most common weather phenomenon of severe storms, which causes serious disasters and is difficult to predict. Thunderstorm gales and tornado occurred successively in Wuhan on May 10 and 14, 2021.

Analysis of temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of flash heavy rain in Hubei Province based on minute rain gauge data

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2021
Based on the minute rainfall data of the surface dense automatic stations in Hubei Province from 2010 to 2015, this paper identifies the flash heavy rain events (hereafter FHR) by using the sliding accumulative hourly rainfall, and compares and analyzes ...

Global evaluation of the precipitable-water-vapor product from MERSI-II (Medium Resolution Spectral Imager) on board the Fengyun-3D satellite [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2021
Atmospheric water vapor plays a key role in Earth's radiation balance and hydrological cycle, and the precipitable-water-vapor (PWV) product under clear-sky conditions has been routinely provided by the advanced Medium Resolution Spectral Imager (MERSI ...

Spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of extreme area rainfall in Hanjiang River basin

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2020
Based on the daily precipitation data of 1961—2018, the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of the extreme area rainfall calculated by the relative threshold method in the five sub-basins of the Hanjiang River are studied by using the ...

Analysis of Rainfall Features and Calculation of Rainfall Pattern of Short Duration Rainstorm in Wuhan, China

open access: yesTecnología y ciencias del agua, 2019
Based on data of daily rainfall in the 66 years from 1951 to 2016 and precipitation/minute data of the heavy rainfall event (daily rainfall > 50 mm) in Wuhan, China, several methods such as linear tendency, cumulative distance, and statistical analysis ...
