3D‐Printable, Honeycomb‐Inspired Tissue‐Like Bioelectrodes for Patient‐Specific Neural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D printed MRI‐compatible tissue‐like neural electrodes tailored to individual gyral patterns. This honeycomb‐inspired printable gel electrode (HiPGE) employs a bioinspired architecture with soft hydrogels, engineered to match the softness of brain tissue.

Study on the influence of ECMWF short-term forecast field assimilation on regional mesoscale model forecast

open access: yes暴雨灾害
The forecast of the global numerical weather prediction model is often used as the background field to drive the regional mesoscale weather models, and its forecast quality has an important impact on the prediction skill of regional models. The mesoscale

Rainfall variations in central Indo-Pacific over the past 2,700 y [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Tropical rainfall variability is closely linked to meridional shifts of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and zonal movements of the Walker circulation.

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Interpreting Rainfall Anomalies Using Rainfall's Nonnegative Nature [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
AbstractPrevious studies emphasized the role of transient disturbances in linking interannual variation of average rainfall (IVAR; average period > 1 month) to external climate forcings. Researchers conventionally use transient eddy‐driven horizontal fluxes of certain variables to explain the IVAR, which is not universally applicable to disturbance ...

Diurnal variability of tropical rainfall retrieved from combined GOES and TRMM satellite information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Recent progress in satellite remote-sensing techniques for precipitation estimation, along with more accurate tropical rainfall measurements from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Microwave Imager (TMI) and precipitation radar (PR ...

Comparing modern and Pleistocene ENSO-like influences in NW Argentina using nonlinear time series analysis methods

open access: yes, 2003
Higher variability in rainfall and river discharge could be of major importance in landslide generation in the north-western Argentine Andes. Annual layered (varved) deposits of a landslide dammed lake in the Santa Maria Basin (26 deg S, 66 deg W) with ...

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Major heavy rainfall events in China from April to October in 2021

open access: yes暴雨灾害
Based on the daily precipitation data of 2, 424 stations and conventional weather chart data in mainland China in 2021, a statistical analysis of the main heavy rain weather processes from April to October of that year was conducted. The main influencing

The Coupled Effect of Precipitation and Fertilization on Nitrogen Loss Via Surface Runoff from Paddy Fields

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao, 2023
【Objective】 Nitrogen loss from soils is a pervasive environmental issue facing agricultural production in many countries. In this paper, we studied the combined effect of rainfall and fertilization on nitrogen loss via surface runoff from paddy fields in
