Linking climate change, rice yield, and migration: the Philippine experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study tests the hypothesis that climate change, through its rice productivity impacts, induces out-migration in the Philippines. Results show that climate change effects such as increasing night time temperature and extreme rainfall pattern, by way ...

Metabolic Regulation of Dimethylsulfoniopropionate Cleavage and Dimethyl Sulfide Production in Halomonas sp. D47

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a major marine organosulfur compound central to climate‐relevant dimethyl sulfide (DMS) production. In Halomonas sp. D47, DMSP catabolism is revealed to be coordinated by two transcriptional regulators, AcuR and AcuZ, which control gene expression by sensing DMSP and its metabolites.

Bio‐Based Wax Interfaces for Droplet Energy Harvesting at Fluoropolymer‐Like Output Levels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Replacing unsustainable fluorinated polymers in droplet‐based energy harvesters is usually limited by low power outputs, but carefully selected bio‐based polymers are capable of creating fluoropolymer‐like voltage outputs. Abstract Droplet impact and rebound on solid surfaces has emerged as a promising method for energy harvesting, typically ...

Analisis Peluang Curah Hujan Untuk Penetapan Pola Dan Waktu Tanam Serta Pemilihan Jenis Komoditi Yang Sesuai Di Desa Masbagik Kecamatan Masbagik Kabupaten Lombok Timur [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Climatic factor, such as rainfall, greatly contributes to the availability of water for crops. Farmers set a schedule and cropping patterns based on habits, such as the period of rainy month. This method is lack precision on determining crops pattern and

SECULAR CHANGE PATTERNS OF JAPANESE RAINFALL

open access: yesGeographical Review of Japan, 1964
There are 61 stations in Japan which have successive rainfall records for more than 60 years up to 1961. For these stations, residual mass-curves of their annual rainfalls were constructed respectively based on the 30 years normal values of the period 1921-50.

Parasitic Plant–Host Interactions: Molecular Mechanisms and Agricultural Resistance Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Parasitic plants devastate global agriculture through sophisticated molecular interactions with host crops. This review synthesizes current understanding of parasitic plant‐host interactions, from strigolactone‐mediated germination and haustorium formation to host defense mechanisms.

Spatial pattern of rainfall events:a background study to modeling and forecasting rainfall [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The study of extreme rainfall events and their spatial coverage is important in identifying areas with high and low extreme events. It has been widely known that extreme rainfall is responsible for major flash flood and landslide events that have caused ...
