Rainstorm Simulation in Macao with WRF
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010Numerical Weather Prediction plays a very important role in weather forecasting. Different models have been running in different weather forecasting centers. The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has been using MM5 for daily weather forecast since 1999.

Hydroclimatological characteristics of isolated severe rainstorms
Water Resources Research, 1981Intense but very localized severe rainstorms are the most frequent type of flash flood‐producing rainstorms in the United States. These storms often go unmeasured because the nation's raingage network is too sparse. A well‐measured sample of 32 storms was obtained from operations of dense raingage networks in Illinois.

On increasing monsoon rainstorms over India
Natural Hazards, 2016Using a high-resolution daily gridded rainfall data set for the period 1951–2015, new objective criteria were developed to determine rainstorms over the Indian region during the south-west monsoon season (June to September). The rainstorms thus identified have rainfall of 125 mm/day or more at the centre, cover minimum 50,000 km2 in area with rainfall ...

Studies of Severe Rainstorms in Illinois
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1962Data from concentrated rain-gage networks were used to investigate area-depth relationships for basins with areas ranging from 5 sq mi to 500 sq mi; empirical mathematical formulas were developed to define storm duration; field surveys were conducted after major flood producing storms and these data were used in conjunction with radar observations and ...

Chapter 2: Jared’s Story. Rainstorm
2017In Chapter 2, Jared talks about his ‘learning years’ during which he was constantly changing what he did to learn. His persistence in finding ways to meet his changing needs as a learner was crucial to gaining competence in Japanese. The theme of motivation is continued in Sensei’s Tips.

Venezuelan Rainstorms as Seen by Radar
Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1973Abstract The underlying premise of the research is that a contribution can be made to understanding the interrelation between mesoscale cumulonimbus systems and synoptic disturbances as well as the general circulation by following individual cloud histories in detail.
