Identifying Spatial Patterns of Egg Nursery Habitat for a Demersal Shark in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea: Conservation and Management Implications

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 31, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Oviparous elasmobranchs lay benthic eggs with long incubation periods, many of which also require habitat‐forming sessile organisms for their development. However, they are threatened by bottom‐trawling fishing impacts. Here, we aimed to identify the suitable habitat distribution of small‐spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula) egg ...

Clock system disruption in male Fischer 344 rats fed cafeteria diet and administered sweet treats at different times: The zeitgeber role of grape seed flavanols

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 51, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
The timing of snack consumption influenced in a time‐of‐day‐dependent manner the deleterious effect of an obesogenic diet in rats. Grape seed flavanols modulated diurnal oscillations of key metabolic parameters and improved energy balance, highlighting their potential to mitigate circadian and metabolic disturbances under these altered dietary patterns.

Grape‐Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract (GSPE) Modulates Diurnal Rhythms of Hepatic Metabolic Genes and Metabolites, and Reduces Lipid Deposition in Cafeteria‐Fed Rats in a Time‐of‐Day‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 68, Issue 23, December 2024.
Visual summary of the main results of the research. Abstract Scope Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a global health issue with increasing prevalence. Polyphenols, such as grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE), are bioactive compounds present in plants and represent an interesting therapeutical approach for MASLD.

Untangling the roles of centrality and environmental contribution in diversity patterns across spatial scales

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2024.
Abstract The application of graph theory to metacommunity ecology allows a deeper analysis of the effect of network structure on diversity patterns. Here, we set out to test the role of network centrality metrics and environmental characteristics in diversity patterns of pond macroinvertebrate metacommunities.

Evaluation of P22 Antigenic Complex for the Immuno-Diagnosis of Tuberculosis in BCG Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Goats

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
Current eradication strategies of tuberculosis (TB) in goats mainly rely on the single intradermal tuberculin test (SIT) and single intradermal cervical comparative tuberculin tests (SICCTs). TB vaccination has been proposed as a cost-effective option in
