Summary The morphology, chemistry and ecology of 96 specimens belonging to the Ramalina farinacea (L.) Ach. complex collected throughout Sardinia (Italy) have been analysed. Five compounds have been detected by mean of TLC. Variolaric acid is reported as new in R. farinacea from Italy.
