Stability and Raman analysis of 1D carbon-boron nitride van der Waals heterostructure [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In this work, we investigate the one dimensional van der Waals heterostructures formed by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) trapped inside single-walled boron nitride nanotubes (SWBNNTs) by a combination of molecular dynamics, the bond ...

Studying carbonisation with raman spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2013
Raman spectroscopy can provide fast and non-destructive analysis of carbonaceous materials. As it is able to detect nanometre-sized structural features, Raman spectroscopy is widely used in the study of carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, graphenes, and many ...

Ultrasensitive Anti‐Stokes Luminescence Thermometry in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a highly sensitive nanothermometer using anti‐Stokes photoluminescence, also known as photoluminescence upconversion (UPL), in monolayer tungsten disulfide. A strong resonantly enhanced UPL is observed, confirming the central role of optical phonons in the PL upconversion mechanism.

Carbonisation of biomass-derived chars and the thermal reduction of a graphene oxide sample studied using Raman spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2013
Chars and carbonised chars were produced from three different oxygen-rich precursors (Pinus radiata wood, Phormium tenax leaf fibres, and sucrose crystals).

Graded‐Interface Dual‐Environment Hydrogel‐Polymer Electrolyte for Stabilized Anode and Sustained Cathode Kinetics in Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graded‐interface hydrogel‐polymer electrolyte decouples water activity to simultaneously stabilize the Zn anode and sustain cathode kinetics. The flexible design supports dendrite‐free cycling over 1600 h, high capacity in both MnO2 and V2O5 full cells, and stable pouch‐cell performance under bending, resolving the fundamental water conflict in ...

Raman Optical Activity and Raman spectroscopy of carbohydrates in solution

open access: yesSpectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2019
This comprehensive study on selected 14 carbohydrates in water solution is an extension of previously published one focused only on solid state analysis. Here, Raman spectroscopy was used as a dedicated method for analysis of carbohydrates in solution, both using a normal effect (RS) and its chiral analogue: Raman Optical Activity spectroscopy (ROA ...

HESS J1809-193: Gamma-Ray Emission by Cosmic Rays from a Past Explosion

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The very-high-energy γ -ray source HESS J1809-193 has been detected by the LHAASO and HAWC observatory beyond 100 TeV energy. It is an interesting candidate for exploring the underlying mechanisms of γ -ray production due to the presence of supernova ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Resonance Raman and Raman Spectroscopy for Breast Cancer Detection

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2013
Raman spectroscopy is a sensitive method to detect early changes of molecular composition and structure that occur in lesions during carcinogenesis. The Raman spectra of normal, benign and cancerous breast tissues were investigated in vitro using a near-infrared (NIR) Raman system of 785 nm excitation and confocal micro resonance Raman system of 532 ...
