Pulse-pumping of cascaded Raman fibre amplifiers
In this thesis, I investigate cascaded Raman fibre amplifiers (RFAs) pumped with shaped optical pulses delivered from a Yb doped fibre MOPA source. RFAs offer the potential to generate gain at any arbitrary wavelength with an appropriate pump source ...

A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Raman microspectroscopy interrogating 19th and 20th century painted trades union banners
We have previously developed protocols for the application of Raman microspectroscopy to studies on painted textiles. We have further assessed the value of such microanalyses in the identification of both inorganic and organic constituents, including ...

Conformal Metallosaccharide Hybrid Films for Protecting Wood Surfaces From Environmental Damage
Ti‐ribose hybrid films fabricated by molecular layer deposition form a conformal and uniform coating on wood surfaces, which provides water repellence, dimensional stability, and resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, while preserving the natural appearance.

Hierarchical MXene‐Derived NTP/C Nanohybrids for Cryogenic Sodium‐Ion Batteries
A hierarchical MXene‐derived NaTi2(PO4)3/C nanohybrid enables efficient sodium‐ion storage down to −40°C by integrating fast ion–electron transport pathways with an ether‐based electrolyte. The system promotes dominant pseudocapacitive behavior and forms a robust inorganic‐rich SEI, collectively mitigating kinetic and interfacial limitations, thereby ...

Life cycle assessment and forecasting for 30kW solar power plant using machine learning algorithms
Highly competitiveness of solar power plants in the energy market requires addressing the active research problem of solar energy forecasting. To make precise forecasts, however, historical meteorological, production, or irradiance data is insufficient ...

A high‐Zn2+‐transference hydrogel electrolyte of ex‐PDADAM is developed via anion exchange at quaternary ammonium sites, achieving high Zn2+ transference number (0.86), ionic conductivity (8.10 mS cm−1), and toughness (51.25 MJ m−3). Symmetric cells are operated stably for over 2000 h, while flexible pouch cells retain 90.9% capacity after 300 cycles ...

Raman analysis of synthetic eritadenine
Eritadenine, 2(R),3(R)-dihydroxy-4-(9-adenyl)-butyric acid, is a cholesterol-reducing compound naturally occurring in the shitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes). To identify the unknown Raman spectrum of this compound, pure synthetic eritadenine was examined

Co‐delivery of electrosprayed EDOT and oxidant enables bulk oxidative polymerization during layer‐by‐layer fabrication, creating stable, highly conductive 3D PEDOT structures. This Atomized Oxidative Polymerization (AOP) overcomes the surface deposition‐only and matrix‐limited conductivity of conventional Vapor Phase Polymerization (VPP) and PEDOT:PSS ...
