Multichannel Raman spectroscopy
Analytical Chemistry, 1987Multichannel detectors have opened up many areas for investigation using Raman spectroscopy. Alan Campion of the University of Texas at Austin and W. H. Woodruff of the Los Alamos National Laboratory describe instrumental aspects of the technique and several applications.

Intraoperative Raman Spectroscopy
Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, 2017Surgical excision of brain tumors provides a means of cytoreduction and diagnosis while minimizing neurologic deficit and improving overall survival. Despite advances in functional and three-dimensional stereotactic navigation and intraoperative MRI, delineating tissue in real time with physiologic confirmation is challenging.

Resonance Raman spectroscopy may yield precise information on the conformation of, and on the interactions assumed by, the chromophores involved in the first steps of the photosynthetic process, whether isolated in solvents, embedded in soluble or membrane proteins, or, as shown recently, in vivo.

Flavin is a general name given to molecules having the heteroaromatic ring system of 7,8-dimethylisoalloxazine but practically means riboflavin (Rfl), flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), and flavin mononucleotide (FMN) in biological systems, whose structures are illustrated in Fig.

In 1928 Chandrasekhara Raman reported a process in which a material would simultaneously absorb one photon and emit another. The energies of the two photons differed by an amount corresponding to the energy difference between two quantum-mechanical levels of the medium.

Fourier transform Raman spectroscopy
Mikrochimica Acta, 1986The basic experimental aspects of Fourier transform Raman Spectroscopy are reviewed with an emphasis on detector technology. The sensitivity is comparable to dispersive Raman Spectroscopy using visible lasers. The ease of spectral subtraction is demonstrated and examples are given showing the elimination of fluorescence.
