New aspects of operando Raman spectroscopy applied to electrochemical CO2 reduction on Cu foams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The mechanism of electrochemical CO2 reduction (CO2RR) on copper surfaces is still insufficiently understood. Operando Raman spectroscopy is ideally suited to elucidate the role of adsorbed reaction intermediates and products.

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

In Situ Identification of Unknown Crystals in Acute Kidney Injury Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Raman spectroscopy is a well-established and powerful tool for in situ biomolecular evaluation. Type 2 crystal nephropathies are characterized by the deposition of crystalline materials in the tubular lumen, resulting in rapid onset of acute kidney ...

Raman spectroscopy in bioanalysis

open access: yesTalanta, 2000
Recent advances in instrument design have allowed researchers to use smaller, more efficient components in designing Raman spectrometers. Advances in instrumentation have increased the performance of Raman instruments and increased their usage in bioanalysis. This paper reviews recent improvements in instrument design and discusses several applications

Microscale 3D Printed Pillars and Porous Polymeric Structures: Manufacturability and Micromechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates how two‐photon polymerization enables the fabrication of microscale solid and porous structures from IP‐Q, IP‐S, and IP‐PDMS resins. Combining morphological and mechanical characterization, the study provides the first systematic insights into IP‐Q mechanics and reveals how processing parameters affect structure and stiffness ...

Super-Resolution Raman Spectroscopy by Digital Image Processing

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2013
We demonstrate the results of a strain (stress) evaluation obtained from Raman spectroscopy measurements with the super-resolution method (the so-called super-resolution Raman spectroscopy) for a Si substrate with a patterned SiN film (serving as a ...

Shell-Isolated Nanoparticle-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
In 2010, Tian et al. reported the development of a new, relatively sensitive method of the chemical analysis of various surfaces, including buried interfaces (for example the surfaces of solid samples in a high-pressure gas or a liquid), which makes it ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Coated Gold Nanoparticles with Embedded SERS Tags [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gold nanoparticles were prepared with the potential to operate as drug delivery vehicles. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is of particular importance as an optical bioimaging technique due to its ability to allow deep and high-resolution ...
